HEAL-D study team wins excellence in research inclusion award

The HEAL-D research study team celebrated being awarded the Excellence in Research Inclusion Award by the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre (BRC).

The award was presented at the NIHR Leicester BRC Half Time Celebrations and Excellence Awards, held on 4 September 2025 at the Grand Hotel in Leicester. The HEAL-D team was recognised for its outstanding commitment to widening research participation and reducing diabetes-related health inequalities among African and Caribbean communities. The HEAL-D research team beat off competition from projects entered from a wide range of NIHR Leicester BRC research themes, highlighting the strength of their inclusive, community‑centred approach and its impact on reducing health inequalities. The team take extreme pride in receiving this award and hope to continue to drive research helping to improving diabetes-related health disparities for African and Caribbean communities in the UK.
