Celebrating completion of HEAL-D participant recruitment

We are delighted to announce that the HEAL-D research study has successfully completed participant recruitment.
300 volunteers of African or Caribbean heritage from around England are now participating in either the HEAL-D programme or existing NHS diabetes structured education programmes, so that the benefits of both can be compared. These volunteers will continue to have their diabetes and health outcomes monitored for 2 years, after which the results will be published.
This achievement reflects the extraordinary commitment of participants from African and Caribbean communities, as well as the dedication of community partners, delivery teams and researchers who worked together to make this inclusive research a reality.
Completion of recruitment marks an important step forward in HEAL-D’s mission to generate robust evidence that can help shape more culturally relevant, accessible and equitable approaches to diabetes care in the UK.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this success. It belongs to the whole HEAL-D community.
